The design of public spaces is perhaps the most clearly representative of our democratic ideals. People are invited to access, enjoy, and use it for their convenience or other needs. There are typically no barriers to use by age, ethnicity, or race. Communities can impose use regulations, such as times of access, uses allowed, or restrictions.
